Blaquire, Edward. Blaquiere was a former Irish sea captain & founder member of the London Greek Committee. Described by Prof Douglas Dakin as a “radical international busybody”. He called upon Byron in Genova in 1823, later spending 2 months in Morea to provide his Report on the State of the Greek Federation to the LGC (London Greek Committee) in September. Certainly responsible for causing many funds to be raised, & for influencing Lord Byron. He remained in Greece as a Captain & worked closely with Church & Cochrane in the Wars.
